The winter of my German priest in the Sinai Desert
Over 40 years ago, when I was living in Israel with my family during my husband’s sabbatical from Columbia University, I went on a camping trip in the Sinai Desert. There were perhaps 15 of us in all. Travelers were from many countries. One of them was a young Catholic priest from Germany. For some reason, the priest and I gravitated to one another.
